Maximilian von Altenberg, an Austrian engineer, was sent to Sarajevo for an inspection in the winter of '97. A friend introduces him to the mysterious Maša Dizdarević: tartar eye and long femurs, austere and wild, splendid and inaccessible, widowed and divorced, with two daughters who live far from her. Something snaps. A powerful attraction that however does not have time to materialize. Max returns to his homeland and, no matter what he does, three years pass before he finds it again. These are the three fateful years that The Yellow Quince of Istanbul spoke about, the love song that Maša sang to him. When they meet again Maša is ill, but love is stronger than anything and finally lights up. From then on a wind rises that moves souls and senses, that tears away tears and dreams. From then on an adventure begins that will take Max to the magical places of Maša, on a journey that is ritual, discovery and resurrection.
